TEAM NEWS Dons manager Paul Ince will be without defender Danny Swailes and skipper Keith Andrews for the trip to Victoria Road as both players serve a one-match ban. Both men picked up their fifth booking of the season in the defeat to Chesterfield 10 days ago and serve the mandatory suspension as a result. Gareth Edds' ankle operation rules him out for three to four months but Jude Stirling could be ready for a return after recovering from a shoulder injury. Dagenham have injury and suspension problems of their own and manager John Still could turn to striker Jon Nurse to help end his side's run of eight league games without a win. Nurse impressed as a substitute in Saturday's FA Cup win over Kidderminster and could be named in a three-pronged attack. Midfielders Dave Rainford and Richard Graham are out with knee and hernia problems respectively, Sam Saunders is out with a knee ligament injury and Solomon Taiwo serves the final game of a three-match ban. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3486481,00.jpg Striker Jon Nurse could be in line to start against the Dons on Tuesday. FORM The Dons will be smarting from their 2-1 home defeat to Chesterfield but will take plenty of confidence from their outstanding away form this season. Ince's team have won five out of their last six on the road and have only been beaten once away all season. Only Chesterfield have scored more goals away from home in League 2. Two points clear at the top of the table, it could be an important 48 hours for the Dons as six of the nine teams below them are all playing eachother. Sat 21st in the table, the statistics do not make good reading for the Daggers. They have gone eight games without a win, nine without a clean sheet, have lost their last four home games and have only won once at Victoria Road all season. No team has conceded more on their own patch and only one team has scored fewer. But they have proven themselves capable in big games, dumping League 1 Southend and Leyton Orient out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. LAST TIME OUT Tuesday will be the first time the two sides have met in the Daggers' first ever Football League campaign. They were crowned Conference champions with a 2-1 win over Aldershot in April thus securing league status for the very first time. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3486486,00.jpg Dagenham celebrate winning promotion to the Football League last season. Milton Keynes Dons can today confirm the signing of experienced defender Matt Carbon. Carbon, 32, joins the club on an initial two-month contract with a view to signing a longer-term deal. The former Derby County and West Brom centre-half impressed boss Paul Ince during a recent trial period and comes in to bolster the defensive options at stadiummk. A former England Under-21 International with Premier League experience, Carbon had been without a club since departing New Zealand Knights in January and cited Ince's influence as one of the major factors in his decision to join the Dons. He said: "I'm very happy to be joining the club; it's a great opportunity for me at a club that is definitely moving the right direction. "The Gaffer was probably the main reason why I decided to sign after a long trial period and now I'm looking forward to repaying his faith in me. "The first target for me is to stay injury free and give myself the best opportunity to get back playing first team football - which I feel I should be." Having started his career as a youngster with Lincoln City, the Nottingham-born defender joined Derby for £450,000 in 1996 - making 20 Premier League appearances for the Rams in a two-year spell. He moved to West Brom for £950,000, making 126 appearances for the Baggies and scoring five goals. After three years at the Hawthorns, Carbon moved to Walsall on a free transfer and made 61 appearances in nearly three years at the Bescot Stadium. Two years at Barnsley where he made 50 league appearances followed, before moving to New Zealand Knights in 2006. Matt will not be part of the party travelling to Dagenham for tonight's League 2 encounter. Добре дошъл на новия ни играч. ;) |
Assistant manager Ray Mathias says the Dons are raring to go against Dagenham on Tuesday night after 10 days licking their wounds. Paul Ince's side have not played since their home defeat to Chesterfield last Saturday, but remain two points clear at the top of League 2. They head to Victoria Park looking for a sixth away win in seven and Mathias said the break might prove useful against a Daggers side looking for a first win in eight. Mathias said: "I think the lads will be pleased to get going again, the break has felt like it's been going on for ever! "The last game we played was unfortunately a defeat so we need to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night. "We've had one or two chest infections in the camp so the break has given us a chance to clear those as well as resting a few legs. The lads have been in very good spirits for the last few days and are looking to move forward. "Any team that comes out of non-league is going to have worked hard to get out of there and they won't want to give it up easy. "Dagenham didn't start particularly well but we have to go there and be professional. "We have to treat them the same as every other club we play and give them the respect they deserve for being in the league they are in. "If we do that and play our own game then hopefully we can get a win." Ince will have to reshuffle the pack on Tuesday night with both Danny Swailes and skipper Keith Andrews missing through suspension. But despite losing two players from the core of the team, Mathias feels the strength of the squad be more than enough to bridge the gap. "You have to look to the players we have available to come in and do a job for us, they've proved their worth throughout the season and been superb for us," he said. "If you look back at some of the games where we have made changes, such as the Carling Cup games against Ipswich and Sheffield United, it proves the strength of the squad we have at this present time. "There are players champing at the bit to get into the side and hopefully when their chance comes they will take it with both hands." Дано наистина си готов за този мач, както и отбора. ;) Наистина тези последни 10 дни ми се сториха като цяло хилядолетие, дано чакането си е заслужавало. ;) |
Dons manager Paul Ince has called on Jude Stirling and Colin Cameron to replace suspended duo Danny Swailes and Keith Andrews for Tuesday night's game at Dagenham. Stirling will slot into right back with Drissa Diallo moving to the heart of the defence alongside stand-in captain Sean O'Hanlon. Cameron for Andrews is a like-for-like change. On-loan Macclesfield midfielder Jordan Hadfield is named on the bench. Dagenham make two changes from the side that beat Kidderminster in the FA Cup on Saturday: full-back Magnus Okuonghae and striker Jon Nurse coming into an expected 4-3-3 formation. Dagenham & Redbridge: Tony Roberts, Magnus Okuonghae, Jon Boardman, Anwar Uddin (c), Scott Griffiths, Sam Sloma, Shane Huke, Glen Southam, Jon Nurse, Paul Benson, Ben Strevens. Subs: Ed Thompson, Dominic Green, Chris Moore, Anthony Cook, Tommy Tejan-Sie. MK Dons: Willy Gueret, Jude Stirling, Drissa Diallo, Sean O'Hanlon (c), Dean Lewington, Mark Wright, Alan Navarro, Colin Cameron, Lloyd Dyer, Aaron Wilbraham, Jemal Johnson. Diallo found the net from Dean Lewington's corner on 23 minutes to keep the Dons top of League 2 but John Still's Daggers made them work for it with a dogged display. Lloyd Dyer could have put the finishing touch to the win but saw a stoppage time penalty saved by Daggers 'keeper Tony Roberts after Colin Cameron was fouled by Jon Boardman in the area. But 2-0 would have been harsh on the home side, who squandered a string of excellent chances to claim a much needed point and sunk to 23rd in the table. The night promised to be difficult enough without the suspended Keith Andrews and Danny Swailes but the way Dagenham started suggested more problems were on the horizon. Within two minutes, Paul Benson was bearing down on Dons 'keeper Willy Gueret from Ben Strevens' pass but the Dons got out of jail when the striker's shot hit the foot of the near post and trickled across goal to safety. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3487498,00.jpg Aaron Wilbraham in action for the Dons at Dagenham. Tackles were flying in from the first whistle, Daggers full-back Scott Griffiths thundering into more than a few, with the home side clearly up for the challenge of facing the League 2 pace setters. Their direct approach was causing Ince's men a few problems and while stand-in skipper Sean O'Hanlon stood strong with Diallo, the difficult pitch coupled with the home side's uncompromising style made chances inevitable. The Dons had Gueret to thank when one did present itself, the Frenchman reacting superbly to block a Jon Nurse header from Sam Sloma's left wing cross. The pace was frantic and space was at a premium but the Dons slugged it out with the Daggers until Diallo put them in front halfway through the first period. Lewington swung a dangerous corner from the right to the near post and the Guinean defender arrived bang on cue to head home his second goal of the season from five yards. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3487500,00.jpg Drissa Diallo heads the only goal of the game. It was a training ground special, and at times after that the visitors looked like they were still there as they popped the ball about with far more confidence. Jemal Johnson fired a shot just wide after Cameron had been put through by Alan Navarro as the Dons seized the initiative but from a Navarro foul just before half time, the Daggers should have been level. Sloma delivered another dangerous ball into the Dons box and with the ball placed perfectly between Gueret and his defenders, Nurse somehow diverted the ball wide from a couple of yards out. Dons tempers frayed towards the end of the half as both Gueret and Lewington were booked harshly for time wasting and Ince as keen to let referee Darren Deadman what he thought at half-time. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3487501,00.jpg Dean Lewington tries his luck with a shot from range. The bookings kept coming for the men in black as O'Hanlon was carded for a foul on Nurse despite a reckless challenge on Dyer going unpunished just seconds before. Dyer could have made life easier on 67 minutes when he side-footed wide from Mark Wright's centre after great work from substitute Leon Knight but that was about as slick as the football got as Cameron resumed usual service with a crunching challenge on Strevens. Dyer and Wright combined again two minutes later, this time the roles reversed as Dyer squared for Wright inside the box but the winger was crowded out by the scrambling Dagenham defence. The game was no less scrappy but the chances were starting to flow and substitute Chris Moore missed the pick of them, jabbing over Gueret and past the post after Boardman's free-kick had been flicked on. Having missed two great chances in the first half, Nurse's luck got no better as he smacked a header from substitute Dominic Green's cross against the bar with eight minutes to go. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3487462,00.jpg Mark Wright puts Scott Griffiths under pressure. Gueret pushed away a fierce free-kick from Anwar Uddin late on as the Dons continued to hold firm but they should have made it safe with almost the final kick. Substitute Drewe Broughton linked up well with Cameron as the pair chased a ball into the Daggers half and when Broughton headed through for his team-mate, Cameron was upended by Boardman. Dyer's penalty was hardly a poor one, credit should go to 'keeper Roberts for an outstanding full-stretch save. But the Dons held out for three points they may well look back on as crucial come the end of the season. Dag & Red: Roberts, Okuonghae, Boardman, Uddin, Griffiths, Southam, Huke, Sloma (Green 69), Strevens, Nurse, Benson (Moore 54). Subs Not Used: Thompson, Cook, Tejan-Sie. Booked: Uddin, Boardman. Milton Keynes Dons: Gueret, Stirling, Diallo, O'Hanlon, Lewington, Wright (Hadfield 89), Cameron, Navarro, Dyer, Wilbraham (Broughton 46), Johnson (Knight 66). Subs Not Used: Abbey, Gallen. Dons manager Paul Ince says his side need to show courage under fire and avoid getting drawn into scraps after the 1-0 win at Dagenham. Drissa Diallo's second goal of the season proved the only goal of the game as the Dons stayed top at League 2 with victory at Victoria Road. It was a battle for Ince's men as the struggling Daggers made life difficult with an uncompromising, direct approach that made for a far-from-pretty affair. But Ince maintains it is good football that will see the Dons through this season and he wants to see it even in the most testing of environments. He said: "We had to battle tonight but we need to learn to be a bit braver and to have the courage to get the ball down and pass it, even when we're under pressure. "Sometimes when we're under pressure we drop deeper and deeper but I think we should be braver, push up and rely on the linesman to get the decisions right. "With the way they play, balls are going to drop in the box and there were a couple of chances because we were too deep. "If you're too deep and you kick it away you give them more ammunition to put it back in there. We need to come out with a bit more composure and pass the ball. "It's a great result for us. It took us a while to get used to the conditions and we never really got going in the first 20 minutes. "After that I felt we got a foothold in the game, caused a few problems for Dagenham and dealt with most of what they threw at us. "I thought we were the better team overall and deserved to win the game." Diallo's header on 23 minutes came from a trademark Dean Lewington delivery, but Ince says the Dons have not made as much of the full-back's expertise as they should have this term. He said: "Lewie's delivery has been outstanding all season and I've had a go at the big men because we haven't scored enough goals from his set-pieces. "We've worked on it in the last few days and we looked more dangerous from set pieces tonight than we have done all season." Catch Paul Ince's Dons World interview on Wednesday. Как по-решителни?! Като знам какви са феновете на Дагенъм, този резултат е идеален, което означава прекрасна игра от страна на отбора. ;) Но щом го казва Губернатора... :P: The Dons travelled to Dagenham on Tuesday night looking to get back to winning ways after a 10-day break in their schedule. Drissa Diallo's first-half header proved enough for Paul Ince's men in a bruising encounter at Victoria Road. |

Wilbraham a doubt for Accrington clash
http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/web/Up...%20Watford.jpg By James Chard MK DONS striker Aaron Wilbraham is a doubt for this Saturday's clash with Accrington Stanley after picking up a rib injury. Alby was forced off at half-time in Tuesday's 1-0 victory against Dagenham and Redbridge after a recurrence of an injury he picked up against Chesterfield. Assistant manager Ray Mathias has said they will give the hitman as long as possible to recover for the Stanley match. He said: "We're not sure quite yet if he can play on Saturday, we'll have to wait until Friday or Saturday morning because he is a little bit tender but hopefully it will clear up. "He took a knock on his ribs about 10 days ago and we thought it had healed. "But he got a similar knock in the same area so it just brought the pain on again." The Dons will be able to welcome back skipper Keith Andrews and defender Danny Swailes who missed out on Tuesday's trip through suspension. Colin Cameron played with a bandaged wrist after a strain but is fit to play. Accrington are sitting comfortably in mid-table at the moment, and held Hereford to a 0-0 draw at Edgar Street two weeks ago, but they only won once in November. They were about to play Rochdale as the Citizen went to press. And Mathias is not expecting an easy game. "The Accrington game is going to be tough, we're going to watch them against Rochdale, have a look at them and see what they've got. "But it's our home game and after winning away at Dagenham we've got to make sure we don't throw that away by losing our home game. We'll go into it nice and positive and will be aiming for three points." Mathias has also revealed the squad has been suffering with a virus, with Dean Lewington, Aaron Wilbraham, Sean O'Hanlon and Drewe Broughton affected. But he is confident the squad has finally got rid of their sniffles. Last Updated: 06 December 2007 10:13 AM Ха! Той бил под въпрос?! MK Dons manager Paul Ince is looking for his side to hit a run of results going into the busy December schedule - which continues with the visit of Accrington Stanley on Saturday. The Dons bounced back from defeat at home to Chesterfield with a gritty win at Dagenham on Tuesday and remain two points clear at the top of League 2. After a run of eight league wins in a row the Dons have suffered two defeats in recent weeks and Ince hopes they can get back in their consistent groove in the build up to Christmas. But he is under no illusions as to the challenge his side face on Saturday when Stanley come to town. He said: "Saturday is going to be a hard game. Teams are coming to our ground and trying to stifle us so we have to be patient. "John Coleman will have the players in our faces, getting tight and stopping us getting into our patterned play and they've got a bit of quality to so it's going to be very hard. "I expect they'll come with a 4-5-1, try to block the midfield out and stop us playing so we'll have to be patient. "I'm looking forward to the game and after Tuesday's win I'm hoping we can go on a little run now. "We've got some important games coming up and it's important we get that run going." Expectation levels amongst the stadiummk support has been high this season and they'll be keen to see a win from their side after a defeat in their last home outing. But Ince says while his team are always capable of winning games, expectation levels have to be realistic. He said: "You can look at every team in every league and nobody is going to win every game. "People get overconfident when teams are doing so well and expect MK Dons to win every game. It's not going to happen, it's impossible. "Look at Arsenal at Newcastle the other night where they were expected to win, or Manchester United losing at Bolton. "There's no excuses, that's football and if it was black and white we'd have nothing to talk about in the pubs would we? "We'll have some good performances, some very good performances, some average ones and some poor ones. "All that matters is where we are come the end of the season." Дано, дано бием и Акрингтън... Five-star MK Dons romped to their biggest win of the season as they mauled helpless Accrington Stanley. Paul Ince's League 2 leaders produced one of their finest performances of the season to go four points clear at the top of the table ahead of next weekend's crunch clash at Peterborough. And free-scoring Posh will be well aware of the ease with which the Dons chewed up and spat out an Accrington side that rarely threatened to disturb the home goal. Ince's decision to select a three-man central midfield was fully vindicated even before half time with Keith Andrews, Alan Navarro and the outstanding Colin Cameron each getting themselves on the scoresheet before the break. And Lloyd Dyer, who played with freedom that made him a joy to watch all afternoon, bagged a superb second-half double to complete a one-sided rout. It means the Dons travel to London Road next week to the home of second-placed Peterborough, who came from behind to win at Chester, in the biggest game of the League 2 season so far. Without the injured Aaron Wilbraham but boosted by the return from suspension of Andrews and Danny Swailes, Ince went for a change in formation - a 4-3-3 his side immediately looked at home with. Within three minutes Kevin Gallen, starting as the central striker, had forced a flying save from Ian Dunbavin from Mark Wright's low ball into the box. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3491302,00.jpg Keith Andrews celebrates his opener with Sean O'Hanlon. Stanley were right on the back foot and on nine minutes, Andrews opened the floodgates. Dean Lewington's right-wing corner was only cleared as far as Wright, who clipped the ball back to the far post when O'Hanlon headed down. Andrews was arriving on the scene, and swept his ninth goal of the season into the roof of the net from close range. It was one-way traffic as the home side dictated the pace, slowing things down then injecting pace at will, Dyer, Wright and a Lewington free-kick all going close. But it was the slickness of the passing and the fluidity in their movement that made them so impressive - Dyer popping up on the right, Wright bursting through the centre and Cameron just about everywhere. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3491300,00.jpg Alan Navarro taps home the second for the Dons. It was no surprised when Navarro made it two with his first goal for the club on 25 minutes - tapping home from a yard for his first Dons goal after Dunbavin had bravely denied Wright from a Dyer cross. It forced Accrington into a change as they desperately tried to stem the tide, wide man Billy Dennehy replacing defender Mark Roberts, but their problems were far more deep-set. They just couldn't get near Ince's men and when they did have it, it was taken off them - one such moment bringing the inevitable third on 33 minutes. Lewington easily hustled Romauld Boco off the ball on the left, fed Gallen inside him who helped the ball on its way through to the onrushing Cameron. The ball stuck a little under the Scotsman's feet, but he just had enough room to dig out a shot that beat Dunbavin and tucked itself just inside the far post. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3491301,00.jpg Colin Cameron gets the better of James Harris. All over bar the shouting and it was surely a matter of how many the Dons would get - Ince's team keeping the ball for an incredible 35 passed in one passage leading up to the break. John Coleman made his final two changes at the break, bringing on John Miles and Shaun Whalley for Boco and David Brown. But when Leam Richardson and Dennehy dithered suicidally on the right left corner of their own area four minutes later, he Coleman might have wanted to rethink that decision. Andrews was in no mood to let them contemplate a clearance, robbed them both and crossed for Wright. Wright couldn't get his shot away, but Dyer was poised behind him and slammed a right-foot shot in off the underside of the bar. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3490948,00.jpg Mark Wright gives Robert Williams a hard time as the Dons beat Accrington Stanley. Willy Gueret was only called out of his deckchair to catch the odd cross or take the odd goal-kick as the Dons switched to autopilot, a shot wide from James Harris and a free-kick over the bar from Ian Craney about the best Stanley could muster all afternoon. But it was to get worse for Coleman's team as Dyer buried his sixth of the season, moving in off the right to hit a left-footed shot that may have taken a hint of a deflection as it flew over Dunbavin. The speedy winger saw a free-kick and a hat-trick chance fly just over the bar in injury time, but he'd have settled for the brace. Dons fans will now be bracing themselves for a first-versus-second clash against Darren Ferguson's Posh next Saturday. Match Verdict
Assistant manager Ray Mathias heaped praise on the Dons midfield trio that inspired them to a 5-0 hammering of Accrington Stanley. Manager Paul Ince reverted to a 4-3-3 formation for the visit of Stanley with Keith Andrews, Colin Cameron and Alan Navarro making up a three-man central midfield. And all three got on the scoresheet as the Dons ran riot at stadiummk. Mathias said: "It was very pleasing, we're delighted with the five we got but it could have been more. It's improved our goal average so we're pleased with that. "The main pleasing factor was how we functioned, we changed the system a little bit to go with Colin Cameron, Keith Andrews and Alan Navarro in the middle of the park and there's no better three than those I can assure you. "You can go up as far as the Championship and there are no better players but throughout the team I thought we were different class. "Lloyd Dyer and Mark Wright were outstanding as well, I could go on and on about the players because they are produced week in, week out and that's what we're looking for. "After watching them on Wednesday night we thought Accrington's three in midfield might cause us a few problems so we changed the formation. "When you see the three players we had in there and the capabilities they've got - they proved a point out there today and I thought they ran a mock in the first half. "I think there was one occasion where we made 35 passes from one side of the field to the other so it's very pleasing to be able to do that and we played very well today." |
