Dons manager Paul Ince says his side must continue to be flexible to stop teams sussing them out this season. Ince switched to a 4-3-3 formation for Saturday's League 2 clash with Accrington Stanley and watched his side storm to a thumping 5-0 win. It was one of the Dons' best performances of the season as Stanley failed to cope with the fluid movement and ruthless finishing of Ince's rampant team. And the boss reckons changing the setup will be important over the course of the season to keep the opposition on their toes. He said: "You have to be flexible, you can't always have a rigid 4-4-2 because it's easy for teams to prepare against you. If they know the same personnel are going to play and we play the same way it's a lot easier to prepare against us. "We've got to be flexible and be able to change it before the game or during the game and I thought it worked a treat today. "You have to interchange when you have players like Lloyd Dyer and Mark Wright - it makes it harder for the opposition to mark you rather than running in straight lines. "It was nice to see because, compared to the game against Dagenham on Tuesday night, it was the opposite end of the spectrum. At Dagenham we had to battle, our fluency wasn't there and we had to put lots of tackles in. "Today was about complete football and it was a joy to watch. "As a manager, there are a lot of people out there that don't necessarily see the things that I see, but I thought with them playing three at the back we could stretch them and leave gaps to exploit. "We had someone clever like Cams out there who can see things and make intelligent runs and it worked a treat." Despite romping to their biggest win of the season, it was the focus at the other end that pleased Ince the most. Goalkeeper Willy Gueret and his defence kept their fourth clean sheet in five games against John Coleman's side to leave the Dons manager nodding in approval. He said: "The clean sheet was the most important thing for me, it's easy to lose concentration when everyone wants to score. "It was important for us as a defence to have a clean sheet, it was just as important as the five goals we scored. "The concentration levels were absolutely outstanding and it's going to have to be like that for the weeks coming up." |
Dons midfielder Alan Navarro has today signed a one-year contract extension at stadiummk. Navarro, 26, joined the club on a one-year deal last summer after following manager Paul Ince to Milton Keynes from former club Macclesfield. Since breaking into the side, Navarro's tenacious, defensive qualities have come to the fore this season and he has been one of the first names on the Dons team sheet ever since. The former Liverpool trainee scored his first Dons goal in Saturday's 5-0 win over former club Accrington Stanley, but it is his work in defence that has made him one of the most highly-rated players in the dressing room. Navarro's new deal will keep him at stadiummk until June 2009. After signing on Monday afternoon, he said: "I'm delighted to have signed, the talks have been going on for a couple of weeks so it's nice to get it all sorted and just get on with playing football. "You can tell by the way I've been playing that I have settled well here, it's a great place to be and I'm just loving my football at the minute. "The Gaffer has played a big part in that and this is where I want to be. I want to be part of what's happening at this club." Браво! :604: |

Hey Jude! and PI Posh Pre
Dons defender Jude Stirling says his team will need to be on their guard when they travel to his former club Peterborough in Saturday's League 2 crunch. Paul Ince's league leaders go to London Road looking to extend their seven-game unbeaten away record and a four-point advantage over Darren Ferguson's side. But second-placed Posh are unbeaten in eight at home and have been banging in the goals - strikers Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith bagging 30 between them so far this term. And Stirling says the Dons will need to be on top of their game to keep their closest rivals at bay. He said: "Every game is tough in this league as we know from last season. Peterborough have a good side, they are in good form at the moment and are nicking results here and there. "They came back from 1-0 down at Chester last week and they've got some players we will have to watch out for. "I think we need to be slightly more on our game than usual because, let's face it, they can score goals and we'll have to watch them carefully. "But as far as preparation goes we will prepare in exactly the same way as we always do and look to win the game." It's a game the former Posh man is looking forward to being involved in, but then Stirling enjoys himself every time he pulls on a Dons shirt - something he feels has been amplified by the work of his manager Ince. Stirling said: "I look forward to every game, every Saturday. The Gaffer has come in, he's got us buzzing and we all look forward to playing every weekend. "All week our work in training is football orientated. It's not so much fitness based, you get your fitness by doing the right things on the pitch. "It means you look forward to every game and we just can't wait to get out there and start playing. "The spirit in the camp is as good as ever, we're top of the league and it's a place we want to stay. "We've got some good men around the club, people that want to win games and people that have won games in their careers. "We know what it takes to win games and to keep winning games." INCE: PLAY THE GAME NOT THE OCCASION Fri 14 Dec 2007 http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3466630,00.jpg Dons manager Paul Ince refuses to accept Saturday's top-of-the-table tussle with Peterborough as a big game, insisting the result will not define his team's season. Ince's league-leaders travel to second-placed Posh in a game the rest of League 2 will have half-an-eye on as the favourites for promotion go head-to-head. Both sides have been in outstanding, free-scoring form of late and everything points to a classic encounter at London Road. But Ince says it'll be a game like any other for his players, who he now feels are used to the pressure of being top of the pile. Ince said: "I don't look at it as first against second, I don't look at it as a big game. "Whatever the result on Saturday, win, lose or draw, it's not going to affect us, where we want to go or how we're going to get there. "People outside of football might be looking at it as a big game but personally I don't. "It's important the players know that we play the game, we don't play the occasion, and hopefully go and do the business. "If you go back to the Mansfield game away from home, it was the first time we were top and we couldn't really deal with the situation, we got a bit complacent and we nearly got our bums kicked. "Now we're starting to embrace it, we know teams are going to lift their games 110 per cent and that's not just the top six - it's every team we play against. "I think we're living with the pressure, we're thriving on the pressure." There can have been no better example of Ince's point than last Saturday's mauling of Accrington Stanley. A rampant Dons side blasted five past John Coleman's team without reply - a result and a performance Ince says has galvanised the confidence in the squad. He said: "The lads are full of confidence now and it's a great result going into the game against Peterborough. "Last Saturday showed a group of players that just go out there and play with liberty, pass the ball well and hopefully we can perform exactly the same on Saturday. If we can do that then I've got absolutely no worries. "But Peterborough are a very good side, they're scoring loads of goals and it looks like being a very exciting game." |

PETERBOROUGH V MK DONS Fri 14 Dec 2007 http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3496927,00.jpg http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3496925,00.jpg TEAM NEWS Dons manager Paul Ince has no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday's trip to Peterborough. Aaron Wilbraham was rested as a precaution in last Saturday's win over Accrington Stanley while Gareth Edds (ankle) and Paul Mitchell (broken leg) are long-term absentees. Bally Smart is available for the last time as the South African winger's loan expires after Saturday's game. Posh have a question mark over centre-back Chris Westwood, who came off in the win at Chester last week with a knee injury. The former Walsall defender is in danger of missing Saturday's visit of the league leaders but could yet make a surprise return. Shane Blackett is ready to step into the breach if required. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3496928,00.jpg Shane Blackett (right) is ready to deputise should Chris Westwood miss out. Guy Branston's contract at London Road has been terminated so Crystal Palace loanee Jeff Hughes is likely to be on the bench. Kieran Charnock and Danny Crow have hamstring and foot problems respectively. FORM The Dons sit four points clear of Posh at the League 2 summit after a 5-0 hammering of Accrington last weekend. Paul Ince's team are unbeaten in seven on the road and, along with Chester and Chesterfield, have the joint-best away record in the division. Only two sides have scored more on their travels and only two have conceded fewer. Their last away outing was a battling 1-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge. Posh go looking for a fifth successive win on Saturday as they look to close the gap on the Dons to just one point. Having gone a goal behind at Chester last week, goals from Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith in the last 10 minutes dug three points out. Mackail-Smith and McLean have scored 30 goals between them this season and have been the spearhead of Posh's recent goal frenzy. After a hit-and-miss start to the season, Darren Ferguson's side now seem to have found the groove and, thanks mainly to the seven they put past Brentford, nobody has scored more goals at home. A fantastic game was given a lightning start when Posh hotshot Aaron McLean opened the scoring just 16 minutes in. But Dons winger Mark Wright equalised just nine minutes later, sliding home Jemal Johnson's centre to send the teams in level at the break. Wright brilliantly converted another Johnson pass seven minutes after half-time and Colin Cameron completed the scoring with five minutes to go as the Dons progressed to round three. Peterborough 1-2 MK Dons
http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/web/Up...S-LOGO.jpg.jpg MK Dons. Ten-man MK Dons just clung on for a win in the top of the table clash at London Road. A superb second half performance with goals from Kevin Gallen and Keith Andrews secured the win. Aaron Mclean got Posh's goal, with Drissa Diallo shown a red card with 10 minutes left. The first half was a drab affair with a very cagey opening as both teams tried to get a feel for the game, and little decent football was played. If anything Posh did shade it though and could have gone ahead on 15 minutes when Charlie Lee's shot thundered the cross bar from 20-yards. Things carried on nervously as neither team posed an attacking threat, and it took Dons 34 minutes to even register a shot, Colin Cameron's 25-yard effort easily saved. Then moments later Keith Andrews' near post header from a Dean Lewington corner was just deflected wide. From the resulting corner Kevin Gallen had a free header at the back post but decided to head across goal and the ball was cleared. On the stroke of half-time the Dons had another chance, Mark Wright crossed in for Gallen who headed across goal but Andrews outstretched foot just couldn't reach it and the ball drifted wide. Then Josh Low had a great chance when he turned well in the box, but his shot was straight at Willy Gueret. Dons carried on their improved attacking display in the second half and got the perfect start when Gallen ran on to Andrews' through ball, cut across Craig Morgan well and smashed home emphatically from 20 yards on 47 minutes. The Dons then got another 10 minutes later, Cameron superbly played in Andrews who just beat the 'keeper to the ball and squeezed home. The Dons were now carving open Posh at will and almost added a third on 64 minutes when Andrews put Gallen through on goal, but Shane Blackett put in a superb revovery challenge to deny him. Gallen then had another chance when after a superb passing move Alan Navarro slid a ball across the face of the goal, but he couldn't only get a toe on the ball and it just bobbled wide. In reply Aaron Mclean just headed past the post for the home side. Then with 15 minutes left he went one better, Lee thundered the bar again from 25-yards and Mclean tapped into the empty net. Things then got worse for the Dons when on 79 minutes Drissa Diallo brought down Craig Mackail-Smith and picked up a second yellow card. Posh then battered the Dons goal but the defence stood up to the challenge manfully. Winger Bally Smart will make his return to the Norwich City reserve side tonight after completing his three-month loan at MK Dons. The Canaries' second string take on East Anglia rivals Ipswich at Carrow Road tonight and Smart has been named in a 17-man squad. Smart's spell with the Dons ended after Saturday's win over Peterborough, the South African youngster returning to Carrow Road to stake his claim for a first team berth under new boss Glenn Roeder. Smart is due to join up with the South Africa Under 20 squad next month but will be keen to make an impact in front of his new manager before then, beginning with tonight's game against the Tractor Boys. Bally made nine appearances for the Dons and became a big favourite with the Dons supporters with his exciting displays. We wish him the very best on his return to Carrow Road. Беше много добър. This is due as a result of the fundamental changes in direction of the FA Premier League and the Football League in the funding of community activities. The head office (Football in the Community) support unit in Manchester, which has run for many years, 20 in total, has ceased effect from 30th November 2007. The changes are also to organise our business to bring all aspects of the club's community work under one umbrella, to change the structure of the club so as to best enable it to promote and raise the profile of the club's community work and that of Milton Keynes Dons Football Club Education and Sports Trust. We are also in the process of working towards charitable status. If you wish to contact Milton Keynes Dons Football Club Education and Sports Trust you can do on 01908 622888. Не че нещо, ама ако някой се интересува... :P: :11 Academy Director Mike Dove hailed a professional Dons outfit after a thumping reserves win at Northampton. Young striker Sam Baldock slammed an impressive double while Drewe Broughton and Matt Carbon also weighed in with goals to see the Dons to a convincing 4-0 win. It was the reserves first win of the season in the Pontin's Holidays Combination as a mix of experienced pros and Academy scholars completely outplayed the Cobblers. And Mike says the excellent approach of all those involved was the reason behind such an impressive showing. He said: "We're very pleased, a clean sheet and four goals is a good return from a very professional performance. "The good thing for me, compared to the Maidenhead game last week, was that we stayed on it for the full 90 minutes. Northampton worked hard but at times when we played one-touch with tempo we were difficult to contain. "At half-time we talked about maintaining that tempo whereas in the Maidenhead game we took too many touches on the ball. "We changed our shape in the second half to have a look at three in midfield. Scott (Taylor) and Sam (Baldock) had to do some disciplined defending and I thought they stuck to their tasks well." While the likes of Broughton, Jordan Hadfield and Luke Howell gave the Dons an established look higher up the pitch, defensively it was a different story. Scholars Miles Mitchell-Coop and Ollie Thorne plus under 16 Adam Chicksen made up three of the back four and Mike praised Carbon and 'keeper Nathan Abbey for guiding them. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3410733,00.jpg Academy Director Mike Dove was pleased with the professionalism of the reserves. "It was a good defensive performance," Mike said, "and it was great again for the young lads. "At the back we had Nathan in goal, Matt Carbon then two second years and an under 16. "Credit to Matt and Nathan with the young players around them, their talking and encouragement was spot on and it's great for the young lads to learn from them. "It was a great professional job from everyone involved. We had to keep going right until the end. We maintained our concentration and didn't let anything slip." Young Dons trio Kieran Murphy, Sam Page and Sam Collins have all extended their respective loan periods with non-league clubs this week. With many existing loan deals expiring over the last seven days, it's been a busy time for clubs arranging extensions to keep hold of players ahead of the Christmas period. While winger Bally Smart's deal was unable to be extended given that his maximum emergency loan period of 93 days had been used, Macclesfield midfielder Jordan Hadfield was able to sign on for another month. Hadfield has made one first team appearance and two reserve appearances in his time with the Dons so far and has impressed greatly. With an additional month at stadiummk in the bag, the 20-year-old looks certain to make a real push for a starting place in the Dons side. In the other direction, Murphy will remain with Blue Square Premier side Crawley Town until 13 January having enjoyed an excellent spell with Steve Evans' side up to now. The Red Devils are on a three-game unbeaten run, in which the Dons defender, 19, has played a key role. Winger Mustapha Carayol, who is also on loan at the Broadfield Stadium, won't see his current loan expire until December 23, when a decision will be made as to whether or not it can be extended. In the Isthmian Premier Division, defenders Collins and Page have extended their stays with Hendon. Page will now be with the Greens until January 15 while Collins, who scored his first goal for the club on Saturday, will stay put until January 20. GALLEN READY FOR CHRISTMAS KICK-OFF Thu 20 Dec 2007 http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3503529,00.jpg Striker Kevin Gallen is hoping the Dons can turn Scrooge this Christmas and show little generosity over the festive period. Friday night's visit of Brentford to stadiummk will be the first of four games in 10 days for Paul Ince's league leaders as the annual fixture congestion kicks into gear. A Boxing Day trip to Notts County and an away day at Darlington follow with Mansfield coming to Milton Keynes on New Year's Day. And Gallen believes that while the prospect of so many matches can be a daunting one, if the Dons prepare correctly, a full points haul is not beyond them. He said: "A lot of things can change for a team if you have a good Christmas. "In an ideal world you're looking for maximum points. It's a big ask but we've proved already this season we're capable of a run like that. "You don't really do a lot in training at this time of year, it's all about what you do on the pitch so you have to get the right preparation and pick up as many points as possible." Gallen fired the opening goal the Dons' vital win at Peterborough last week to send Ince's men into the Christmas period on a three game winning run. And the former QPR striker says he's enjoying being back in the side after injury brought an unwanted interruption to his first season in MK. He said: "I haven't been playing much lately and haven't scored a goal in a little while so it was nice to see that one hit the back of the net on Saturday. "The season was going alright for me, I was in the team and then I picked up an injury. "It's been difficult to get back into the side because the lads who have been playing have done really well but you have to give them a chance. When the lads are winning games you're not likely to change much. "But I've found myself back in the side, I've started the last two games and managed to score last Saturday so hopefully I can keep playing. "If I can stay in the side and the lads keep winning then great." The Dons will face a rejuvenated Bees side, after caretaker manager Andy Scott helped them end a seven-game losing streak with a win at Wrexham last Saturday. And Gallen feels they'll be tough opposition if they play like most visiting teams at stadiummk. He said: "Teams have been coming here, trying to defend and trying to nick a point. They pack the defence, pack the midfield and try to hit us on the break. "We've got to be patient. Against Accrington Stanley we scored quite early and were able to dominate the whole game so we'll be looking to do something similar on Friday. "But it's not going to be easy for us, I think they'll come with a game plan and we will have to break them down." Alby warns gap means nothing http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/web/Up...%20Watford.jpg Aaron Wilbraham. By James Chard Striker Aaron Wilbraham has warned that the table-topping Dons haven't achieved anything yet. The determined frontman told the Citizen that being five points clear at Christmas doesn't mean a thing, and they can't afford to take their foot off the pedal. "I don't think we think we are that far ahead," he said. "We don't see the five point gap as a big difference because we know that can soon go, especially over the Christmas period. "If we lose a few games and the others win then we're back behind them, so we're not going to take our foot off the gas and start relaxing. If we've got a big gap at the end of April then we'll be happy, but not at the end of December." Alby has lost his place recently to Kevin Gallen as Paul Ince switched to a 4-3-3 formation, and Wilbraham admits he faces a tough time to dislodge the former QPR striker. "It's good competition with Kevin at the moment. I don't mind being out of the side for someone who's doing quite well. "Obviously, I'm dying to get back in, but when the team's winning you can't really have any complaints, and I have been injured and have been happy to just be involved." He also reckons the two could play together if needed, a partnership that has yet to be tested. "I feel I can play well up front with Kev as well. "Neither of us are the fastest but with the wingers we've got in Lloyd Dyer and Mark Wright and Colin Cameron and Keith Andrews bombing on, you don't need that much pace. "Because you've got two front men who are good at keeping hold of the ball and bringing people in to the play." With the bulk of Dons' goals coming from midfield this season, a staggering 24 of the 40 league goals in fact, many Dons fans have been calling for some added firepower. But Wilbraham is confident the current group of strikers have got what it takes to force Ince not to take his chequebook out in Janu ary. "The strikers we have got are capable. I feel the squad that we've got at the moment is very good and there's good banter amongst the lads at the moment and spirit and fight. "Fans always want more, don't they? But I think the manager knows in his own head what he wants to do in January. It's not for me to say what positions or what kind of players we need. "But it doesn't really make a difference to me." And Alby reckons that fight and spirit in the camp will be key to keeping their campaign going. "The togetherness in the squad has been superb. "We've been coming back from goals down, we've never conceded when we've had a player sent off and we've won a lot of games. "We've scored the most in the division and conceded the least – they're the facts that prove we are a good squad. "The league table doesn't lie and we've just got to keep improving every game." But manager Paul Ince has no new injury concerns ahead of the game - Paul Mitchell (broken leg) and Gareth Edds (ankle) the only long-term absentees. The Magpies also have one suspension issue, on-loan Birmingham City defender Krystian Pearce out after being sent off against Dagenham at the weekend. Defender Mike Edwards is still out with an ankle injury but midfielder Myles Weston returns to the squad. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3506973,00.jpg Myles Weston should return to the County squad on Boxing Day. FORM Dons have been in good form of late and go into the game with a five-point lead at the top of League 2. Their draw at Brentford on Friday night was their fourth without defeat and they are eight unbeaten on the road. Paul Ince's side have the best away record in the league with seven wins and just one defeat from 10 games away from stadiummk. Their last away trip produced a superb performance at Peterborough and a priceless 2-1 win. After four straight defeats including elimination from the FA Cup by non-league Havant and Waterlooville, County have responded well with a home win and an away draw from their last two games. Having not kept a clean sheet in six, they will be keen to stay tight against a Dons side that has rattled in 41 goals in the league this term. They sit 17th at present but a win could take them into the heart of a cluster of teams around the 25-point mark. LAST TIME OUT MK Dons 3 Notts County 0 - Friday 7 September 2007 County travelled to stadiummk in early September and were the first to be hit by a Dons run that eventually stretched to nine games and saw them hit top spot for the first time. http://www.mkdons.premiumtv.co.uk/ja...3506964,00.jpg Lloyd Dyer takes on Lee Canoville when the sides met in September. Keith Andrews broke the Magpies' stubborn resistance just before half-time, heading home Dean Lewington's corner, before Danny Swailes got his first for the club after the break from another Lewington corner. Notts county took an early lead through Richard Butcher, but it was all Dons after that and Mark Wright soon made it 1-1. Goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington was in superb form for County though and made a number of great stops before Johnson tapped in late on for a deserved win. The fast half was frantic with the Dons on top and playing some real fast-paced attractive football. It was County who took the early lead though on just nine minutes with their only chance. Andy Parkinson turned Dean Lewington well on the left hand side and crossed for the oncoming Richard Butcher who headed into the bottom corner of the goal. This only spurred the Dons and their comeback didn't take long. A patient build patient saw Lewington split the defence with a ball through to Kevin Gallen who squared for Mark Wright who blasted in from eight yards on 15 minutes. Then immediately after, another blistering move down the left found Lloyd Dyer who swung in a beautiful cross for Colin Cameron who flung himself in the air to meet the ball with a diving header that beat Kevin Pilkington, but not the post. Dons were now all over County and Gallen then almost got on the scoresheet but his close-range shot was just blocked. Then on 24 minutes the on-fire Cameron went close again, his 18-yard volley just kept out by Pilkington. The one-way traffic was unstoppable and Andrews then should have done better with a free shot from the edge of the area that he scuffed wide. County did slow the tide towards the end of the second half and Neil Mackenzie forced a good save from Gueret with a free-kick, but Dons really should have gone in ahead at the break. Dons brought on Matt Carbon at half-time for his debut in place of Sean O'Hanlon and he was made to work a lot harder than the man he replaced as County made a game of it second half. But when the Dons did the ball down they looked dangerous, and Wright just curled the ball past the post on 67 minutes after cutting in well. Moments after Gallen's rasping half-volley was just kept out by the inspired Pilkington. The home side hit back though and Adam Tann almost scored with 10 minutes to go when his g lancing header just went wide. And then with minutes left Gueret made a smart stop to keep out Myles Weston's header. Then in the last minute Navarro was brought down on the edge of the box by Gary Silk, but Andrews blasted the resulting free-kick straight at the wall for a corner. Then from Lewinton's corner substitute Drewe Broughton flicked on for fellow sub Johnson who poked in from point blank range.
